Breathable and beautiful walls with cotton wallpaper

The notion of the breathing wall is a classic example of how long errors can persist. This goes back to the hygienist Max von Pettenkofen, who carried out corresponding measurements in 1858, but did not take all factors into account. Breathing is generally understood to mean the absorption and release of substances. Normal wall materials are almost incapable of doing this. However, there are exceptions, such as cotton plaster, but also clay or wood.
These fabrics are much better at absorbing moisture from the air and releasing it again. With cotton plaster, you can easily observe this in the bathroom, since the mirrors fog up significantly less after the shower.

The cotton wallpaper as an alternative wall covering

The cotton wallpaper is also known as cotton plaster and is considered an excellent solution for wall coating in interior design. Not only is it able to regulate the humidity level in the room, the acoustics can also benefit from it. Especially in empty, large rooms, it often reverberate, which is very uncomfortable. If you want to create a more homely ambience, but still don't want to equip the room with a lot of furniture, cotton wallpaper is the right choice. This is a so-called liquid wallpaper, which has a surface with a different structure. This is able to better absorb the sound during conversations, so that there is no unpleasant reverberation.

The cotton wallpaper is also a sensible solution from an energy point of view, because it provides very good thermal insulation similar to thermal fleece. Even if the wallpaper is not very thick, it already provides excellent protection.

This is how the cotton wallpaper is put on the walls

If you have already painted your wall with insulating paint, you have already created the first requirement for a wall with cotton plaster. If your wall does not discolor, a coat of white wall paint is sufficient, which can be mixed with some quartz sand if the walls are smooth.

In general, you do not need to have any extensive technical knowledge, because most manufacturers already provide detailed instructions. After a little practice, the plaster can be spread evenly on the wall to a thickness of approx. 1-2 mm.
The cotton plaster only has to be mixed with water and can then be applied to the surface after a short waiting period.

Where can the cotton wallpaper be attached?

In principle, cotton wallpaper can be used in all rooms. The special liquid wallpaper has special properties that make it possible to attach the wallpaper even in areas that are subject to heavy wear. Uneven walls can be well concealed with coarse cotton plaster structures. The processing is completely seamless.

The cotton wallpaper is very practical, especially in the bathroom, because it can absorb moisture and store it over a longer period of time. The wallpaper then gradually releases the moisture again, and the mirrors and windows fog up much less, if at all.
