Alternative to wallpapering
Breathable and beautiful walls with cotton wallpaper
Walls don't always have to be papered white - there are many ways to design the ambience as you wish and, of course, to improve the living climate. Did you know that it is even possible to save on heating costs with a carefully selected wall coating? We will show you why it is worth investing in cotton wallpaper and what advantages it offers.
Cotton wallpaper as an alternative wall covering
The cotton wallpaper is also known as cotton plaster or liquid wallpaper and is considered an excellent solution for wall coating in interior design. Not only is it able to regulate the humidity level in the room, the acoustics can also benefit from it. Especially in empty, large rooms, it often reverberate, which is very uncomfortable. If you want to create a more homely ambience, but still don't want to equip the room with a lot of furniture, cotton wallpaper is the right choice. This is a so-called liquid wallpaper, which has a surface with a different structure. This is able to better absorb the sound during conversations, so that there is no unpleasant reverberation. This effect is also very popular in acoustics, for example in home cinema.
The cotton wallpaper is also a sensible solution from an energy point of view, because it provides very good thermal insulation similar to thermal fleece. Even if the wallpaper is not very thick, it already provides excellent protection.
This is how the cotton wallpaper is put on the walls
The substrate should be rough, color matched to the cotton plaster and evenly colored and must not discolour.
The cotton plaster only has to be mixed with water and can then be applied to the surface after a short waiting time. In general, you do not need to have extensive technical knowledge, because most manufacturers already provide detailed instructions. After a little practice, the plaster can be spread evenly on the wall to a thickness of approx. 1-2 mm. The application of cotton plaster has very little to do with classic plastering and is much easier. The majority of our customers apply the cotton plaster themselves. On the one hand, this is fun and also saves a lot of money.
The typical problems with wallpapering, such as overlapping strips, blistering or even crooked walls, do not exist with cotton plaster. Therefore, it is easier to achieve a professional result with cotton plaster.
In addition to application with a smoothing trowel, many cotton plaster decors can also be applied with a funnel spray gun. This is especially interesting when wallpapering large areas and ceilings, as it significantly increases the speed of the coating.
Papering consciously: Where can the cotton wallpaper be attached?
In principle, cotton wallpaper can be used in all rooms. Cotton plaster has special properties that make it possible to attach the wallpaper even in heavily used areas. Uneven walls can be well concealed with coarse cotton plaster structures. The processing is completely seamless.
The cotton wallpaper is very practical, especially in the bathroom, because it can absorb moisture and store it over a longer period of time. The wallpaper then gradually releases the moisture again. As a result, the mirrors and windows fog up significantly less or not at all. This is the clearest proof that moisture regulation works with cotton plaster. This effect is only achieved by a few other materials,
